League Members

Alex Ashak
Chief Executive Officer and League Commissioner

Alex Ashak is Chief Executive Officer and League Commissioner for the Emotional Friends Fantasy Football League, and is a consummate veteran to the game of Fantasy Football. This is Ashak's second stint as a commissioner, previously serving in the same role for the now defunct league, The Aggressive Enemies Fantasy Football League, as outlined by his 2019 Team Spotlight.  He also serves on the board of directors for the Fantasy Football Enthusiasts and is one of the highest-ranking commissioners among the world’s most popular sports, based on made up league revenue metrics.

The Emotional Friends League operates several key fantasy critical functions – through an integrated nationwide network of independent league members – the Emotional Friends Official Super Fun Draft Time™, The Emotional Friends Official League Comments Board™, The Emotional Friends White Hot Waiver Wire Betting Line™ and The Taylor Swift Dedication Program™, as well as more than 10 fully stocked teams of Fantasy Football players. The Emotional Friends is by far the best Fantasy League in the world, as measured by a careful analysis of many close family members and friends. In addition, The Emotional Friends Official League Comments Board™ is the most comprehensive shit talking platform and the most offensively low-grade league communication platform in the Global Fantasy Football industry.

The League and its members offer a total Fantasy Football solution, operating with more than 2 thousand insults, defamatory remarks, terrible predictions, waiver additions, and trades between members per year.  Combined, these members – accounting for $25.9 billion in completely fake revenue in fiscal year 2019 – include his brother Kevin Ashak, Justin Ressa, Trevor Spires, Tyler Borgs, Kyle Richardson, Kameron Smith, Daniel West, DW Warner, Jared Weverstad, and Grant Kempton, all marketed under the Emotional Friends brand name.

The Emotional Friends growth is closely tied to Ashak's ability to recruiting high-level, fantasy minded candidates for his league and properly developing them through his renowned approach of a strict regiment of Taylor Swift music, powerful hallucinogens, and tough love. Ashak started this training program after founding the league in 2012 and saw it work to great success with the original eight members.  In 2014, he transitioned to a 10-man league after his successful acquisition with Justin Ressa's league, the American Fantasy Football Association of America, and integrating his methods with the few joining members acquired in the merger.

Ashak looks to continue his excellence in leading the league into the future and incorporating and fostering new innovative techniques of Fantasy Football League managing into the future and beyond.

Kevin Ashak
Chief Fantasy Administrative Officer

Kevin Ashak, Chief Football Administrative Officer and brother to the League Commissioner, brings a wealth of fantasy experience at the team and league level to the Emotional Friend's League.  Ashak is responsible for driving fantasy operations programs, facilitating shit talking initiatives on the league message boards, and the day-to-day operational criticism of the League Commissioner.

Ashak was most recently the league champion in 2019, and with the help of Douche and Associates, an international sports, entertainment and law firm co-founded by Houston Texans head coach Bill O'brien, Ashak used his winnings to get his restraining order issued by Taylor Swift lifted.

Prior to Emotional Friends League, he had a brief stint with the American Fantasy Football Association of America in 2013, last serving as just another hapless manager who missed the playoffs. Ashak joined the Emotional Friends in his current role after several years floating from league to league trying to find a fantasy league home who shared the same appreciation for Taylor Swift as him. Before that, he spent three years as a transient trying to realize his dream of becoming a Taylor Swift back up dancer on tour by frequenting Taylor Swift concerts in attempt to talk her manager into allowing him to try out.  Even before that, as president of the Official Taylor Swift Fan Jedi Council, Ashak gained valuable career experience that he could apply to his current position, serving in various capacities, most recently as the council’s senior director of treasury.

Throughout his career, Ashak has developed expertise in matters relating to trade negotiations, FAAB management, and other day-to-day management of Fantasy business and administration operations.

Ashak still holds his position on the Executive Board of Directors with the Official Taylor Swift Fan Jedi Council governing body where he helps guide the governing body in leading the Swifty development for youth, high school and other amateur fantasy players.

Daniel West
Executive Vice President of Fantasy Competition

Daniel West, Executive Vice President of Fantasy Competition, informs the Emotional Friends through the unique lens of constant losing and lack of playoff experience on a personal team management level. He employs only the highest standards to competently perform in this role so as to enhance and preserve the Emotional Friend's competitive integrity and its overall value to the sacred game of Fantasy Football.

His transformational approach promotes professional fantasy development of fellow league members by applying a vision of consistent losing for himself, to all aspects to the Emotional Friends League's rules and competition decisions so he can continue his non success. West has held a broad range of responsibilities for the league, including game analytics, accountability, integrity of the game, development and growth, and policies and procedures relating to Emotional Friends League, all aimed at protecting other member's playoff spots rather than him selfishly taking it for himself.

“It’s a great blessing to have moved from serving our league solely as a losing manager to now serving it through advising on operations of the game that continue to help the other teams over me. Fantasy transcends race, age, gender and other elements of society and creates community by bringing people together across our great league to defeat me,” says West. “The future of this league is bright because of the integration of technology, technique, and rule adjustments that are making our league better by limiting myself from playoff contention.”

West long has been a promoter of the character and leadership values that Fantasy and the music of Taylor Swift contributes to society. He is the only member in history to have received the prestigious honor of having the smoking hot, Erin Andrews, exclusively report on the ineptitude of his Fantasy managerial decisions.

Trevor Spires
Executive Vice President of Fantasy Operations and Compliance

As Executive Vice President of Fantasy Operations and Compliance, Trevor Spires employs a unique combination of a satanic ritualism and a lifetime of fantasy knowledge to ensure that all football members are in compliance with policy, processes and rules that only help him.

Spires is the gatekeeper of the playoffs as a consistent participant and controls competitive balance to tilt in his favor, where he utilizes ancient demonic worshipping as his process to become the watchdog over Madame Inconsistency, and has the power to summon her and control point scoring on game day. As a two time league runner up, Spires is also a driving force in communicating the department’s accountability initiatives to members when he is not winning.

“It is of utmost importance to every member that the rules of fantasy and the policies impacting this game of chance, are designed in way so that all the luck falls in my favor with clarity, consistency, and credibility,” says Spires. “Moreover, there must be a fair and level playing field for everyone, except me, to ensure competitive balance, resulting in a world-class contest with every game.”

A devoted Swifty, Spires began his journey with the Emotional Friends as one of the original league members. Prior to joining Fantasy Operations, he served as Vice President of Taylor Swift Relations and Fantasy Administration where he advised clubs on matters related to the T-Swift Collective Fan Girling Agreement, including member conduct, discipline, and policies.

“Trevor has parlayed a strong Fantasy football pedigree and his Masters Degree in the Practice of the Dark Arts to provide his department with not only a deep understanding of the game, but also what it takes to keep the luck continuously in his favor,” said Daniel West, Executive Vice President of Fantasy Competition. “Trevor knows the business of Fantasy, knows Taylor Swift, and knows how to administer ancient satanic rituals, and that’s a powerful combination.  He is truly an invaluable member of this league.”

Tyler Borgenson

Executive Vice President of Fantasy Experience

Tyler Borgenson, Executive Vice President of Fantasy Experience, has worked within the world of fantasy for years. He currently oversees the Fantasy Experience division and has been a vital driving force in innovation, administration and the Emotional Friends Awesome Fantasy Ideas pipeline and development.

In Borgenson’s current role, he drives league member experience through strategies that include cross functional team building and high end strategic analysis that allows him to have matchups that continue to mitigate his scoring margins on a personal team level, aimed to engage members by creating a compelling products on the virtual field with his team and experiences that rival other high-profile events in the fantasy industry.

Prior to joining the Fantasy Experience Division, Borgenson served as a valuable lower level team manager who managed several mediocre rosters over his career in the league, that consistently played in close games week in and week out, which provided him to the tools to excel in his current position now.

After his league championship in 2018, he began working with new innovative approaches he developed with handling the waiver wires – where he drove the testing and development of new and controversial concepts on the professional fantasy level for the first time as part of the Emotional Friends Research and Development Pipeline for Awesome Ideas™.  As part of this, Borgenson lead the coordination efforts with league members in FAAB waiver implementation and is one of the main reasons the league is where it is at today. Now, he continues to push for innovation in terms of the generation of new and exciting concepts that can only further minimize scoring margins to make each and every game the most exciting and enthralling experience possible.

Kyle Richardson
Executive Vice President of Fantasy Relationship Management and Member Engagement

Kyle Richardson, the Executive Vice President of Fantasy Relationship Management and Member Engagement, serves the league through the managing of several business critical operations.  Those include the administration and facilitation of shit talking between members across all league platforms and departments, and creating semi-functional predictive analysis models directed at league personnel and the executive staff to demean their performance, all while continuing his ongoing initiatives of substandard fantasy personnel and team building decisions.  Through his tireless hands on work with developing negative relationships with league executives, he has been able to transform and influence priority league-wide fantasy policies on relationship management, educational activities, and even leadership governance affairs for issues impacting fantasy team management with the league.

Richardson previously served as Senior Vice President of Strategic Analysis where, amazingly enough, he actually won a fantasy championship, and now brings years of executive fantasy experience in the mismanagement of economics on the FAAB system, hostile trade negotiation tactics, unorganized drafting solutions, and inadequate key decision making strategies, in the areas of team development and training to the Emotional Friends Fantasy Member Relations Division.

Justin Ressa
Senior Vice President of Fantasy Communications

Justin Ressa, Senior Vice President of Fantasy Communication and self-appointed Resident Swifty Consigliere, began his career with the Emotional Friends League in 2014, after serving as Commissioner of the American Fantasy Football Association of America (AFFAA) for the previous six years and conducting the negotiations with Alex Ashak on the merging of the two leagues and bringing over the top Fantasy members of the AFFAA.

Ressa leads all communications programs, including the Passionate Playback, Power Rankings, and The Taylor Swift Dedication Program™ across all league platforms. These efforts positively impact relationships and enhance goodwill for the Emotional Friends League and all its members.

Ressa continues his tireless efforts to foster leaguewide camaraderie, and establish meaningful connections between members. He works with his staff to enhance member's images for the good teams and drive negative opinion initiatives against the bad teams by sharing cutting edge analysis of team performance. Further his staff develops leaguewide synergy through their honest and fair criticism of league members in his weekly staple and critically acclaimed, Passionate Playback, which releases once per week in season to rehash the weekly action during the fantasy year.

His staff (of just him) created the Taylor Swift Dedication Program™ an unscripted platform where league members have honest, candid conversations about the challenges and benefits of life as part of the Official Swifty Movement.

Ressa serves as the lead content creator on his staff when it comes to weekly gimmicks, including “Inspirational Speeches” and "Team Spotlights" and he is in the development phase of several other projects that look to assist members in both excelling and tanking on the virtual grid iron.

As long as the league members continue to fervently guzzle down his various innovative concepts of knowledge and insight delivery, his staff continues to tirelessly work on stroking the humongous shaft of innovation to produce state-of-the-art concepts and ideas to eject out onto the league. While he has yet to bring home a championship on the personal team level to date, his back to back regular season 1st place finishes indicate he is on the precipice of capturing his ultimate goal of reaching the fantasy promised land.

Kameron Smith
Ex Communicado (Years of service: 2016-2019)

Kameron Smith's low level leadership qualities, vast losing experience, and unwavering passion for the game of fantasy made him uniquely qualified to head the Emotional Friends Training and Development Program.  Unfortunately, he was deemed Ex Communicado prior to the 2020 season and he graciously stepped down from this role.

In his career, Smith played 0 postseason games. He knew with that track record, he would be a vitally important driver of fantasy success for the other members of the league. Smiths's experience showed he knew how to bring about postive change and really improve the performance of his other leage members. He devoted his time to thoroughly studying the science and practical application of techniques to make the other teams in the league better than him, and his knowledge of the game and ability to lose so many matchups are regarded by many to be the best in world Fantasy.

We wish him well in all future Fantasy related endeavors.

Jared Weverstad
Senior Vice President of General Fantasy Counsel

Coming over in the league merger between the AFFAA and the Emotional Friends, Jared Weverstad has served as a valuable member of the league since 2014. His history includes multiple playoff appearances and successful season campaigns on personal managing front, but Weverstad has never has been able to achieve his ultimate goal of a fantasy championship.

Throughout his tenure as Senior Vice President of General Fantasy Counsel though, his impact has mainly been felt through how he has had his hands on and provided general input in several key operational, fantasy critical decisions in with each division and department in the league.  Most notably, while he was forced to take a one year hiatus in 2019, he still undertook in coordinating the drafting and development of his personal fantasy roster while offering his counsel to interim Manager, Grant Kempton.  Further, Weverstad looks to continue his role managing a roster in 2020 and being a key contributor with important counsel and coordination efforts with all operations across several platforms and departments, most importantly on the member relations side of the league by leading and driving key innovative shit talking concepts to enhance league wide communications.

DW Warner
Regional Vice President of Fantasy Team Management

The second most recent member to join the ranks of the Emotional Friends League, DW Warner, Regional Vice Presidents of Fantasy Team Management, started his role in 2017 and has taken upon him an ever expanding position that requires a jack-of-all trades skillset, providing key coordinating and consultation programs in several areas of the fantasy business, most notably in competition, compliance, member relations, and communications, on both the team and league wide level.

In his first season, Warner's successful personal managerial efforts, lead to a championship and he looks to continue his early success in his position as Regional Vice President with local operations on his own roster  His early impact across the league, including several initiatives that drove league engagement and facilitated increased shit talking on the comment boards, higher levels of Fantasy competition, and generally improved member relations, all proved to be invaluable to overall league synergy and functionality.

Grant Kempton
Regional Manager of Fantasy Team Management

In his first season with the Emotional Friends, Grant Kempton, took on the important responsibility of Regional Manager.  His position entailed overseeing the day-to-day operations as interim manager of the fantasy roster for Jared Weverstad's personal fantasy team.  As interim manager, his contributions with senior leadership on identifying and delivering in actionable items to increase the league's fake profitability was invaluable, even if his personal managing of his team was underwhelming in their results.

As he enters his first full season in a permanent fashion, Kempton looks to not only take on more significant coordinating efforts and being a leader in the operations and development of the league, but with his first time being granted total control in drafting and developing a roster from the start of the 2020 league year, he is determined to drive results not only for the league as a whole, but from a personal team level as well.
